As we all know, February is often celebrated as the month of love. With Valentine’s Day approaching, join us as we melt away the cold and unlock the limitless healing potential of our heart chakra on Feb 10th from 6-8pm for “Open Your Heart - An evening of Heart Centred Yoga & Guided Meditation". Workshop led by Rhian Owen, RYT-200.

This workshop will focus on heart opening yoga postures which build stamina & increase outward energy to support us in reconnecting to our Anahata (heart), the fourth primary chakra in the traditional system (think dancers pose, camel pose, bridge pose). When we expand our heart space, we have more room for giving and receiving love. Our physical practice will end with a mini Pranayama, (breath work practice) which stimulates and awakens the wisdom and power within our bodies and minds, inspiring a feeling of gratitude.

After Pranayama, we invite you to join a group sharing exercise where we will each have an opportunity to write down something that is weighing on our hearts that we wish to release. This can be anything from a mindset, to a relationship, to a pattern we wish to break. All participation in this exercise is optional and will be done anonymously. After everyone's intentions have been collected we will each pick one to share and take turns reading them aloud in an open group discussion. This exercise encourages trust, closeness and self acceptance while encouraging the power of group healing as we often can relate to other’s pain, but so rarely discuss it in an open forum.

We will close our evening together with a heart centred guided meditation which expands our capacity for compassion, nurtures our relationship to self love and ignites the light within each of us. We can't wait to share this transformational evening with all of you.

All levels welcome - beginners encouraged!
About our instructor:
Rhian Owen is a BIPOC Vinyasa & Hatha yoga instructor from Toronto, ON. She has been practicing yoga since 2013. Her interests are deeply rooted in Hindu & Buddhist philosophy, meditation and asana study. A graduate of Yogaspace's renowned 200hr teacher training program, Rhian is dedicated to continuing her studies and is currently pursuing her RYT 500 certification with Yogaspace. Fascinated with many styles of movement, she is a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and practices functional bodyweight movements including Ginastica Natural and Animal Flow.

Rhian has directly experienced the transformational healing power of yoga & meditation and encourages her students to explore the relationship between breath, body and mind. She believes that yoga is a powerful tool for self discovery, self acceptance, and self compassion. Through dedicated practice studying the 8 limbs of Yoga, she has been able to work through and overcome a collection of life traumas by reconnecting to herself, her sense of purpose, and a loving community. Rhian is focused on creating a safe space where students feel challenged and supported. Her flows are vibrant, thoughtful and creative. She is passionate about spreading the many gifts yoga has to offer. Through conscious movement and observing our thoughts in moments of stillness, we are able to connect to the true self that exists beyond the ego; the self which has always existed within us, a current of pure unconditional love.
